Black Friday is probably the biggest shopping day of year. Sounds fun right? Not if you have to work. I have had to work on Black Friday for the past three years, so I'm starting to get used to it now. The first Black Friday I had to work was actually only my second day working at Shopko. That really taught me the ropes fast. Now, if I wasn't working in retail, I would probably be right out there with all the rest of the crazy shoppers that get up very early in the morning. Since I work at Shopko though, I never get the chance to go out on this day anymore.
Last Friday I started work at 4:30 in the morning. Shopko doesn't open until five, but they thought it would be a good idea if we got there 30 minutes before the crowd. On Black Friday, we always have to use the back doors to the store, because there is a lengthly line out the front. No one told me this last year, so I just butted in and out of people trying to make my way to the front of the line. You wouldn't believe how many people yelled at me, so I tried to simply explain the fact that I work there and I need to get in. One thing I hate about black Friday is how people are so rude and pushy. Once we open the doors at five, people go nuts. They start pushing and shoving to get carts, and then they take of in a mad sprint. They act like it's some sort of race, and that the person who gets to the register first, will win a prize. We had around 15 cashiers working that morning, and everyone was busy the whole time. I had to work for eight hours, but the time flies by when it's that busy. I was planning on going shopping after I got done with work, but after deaing with all those customers, I was too exhausted. Well, at least I only have to put up with Black Friday once a year. :)
